In-game footage
When I worked as a freelance 3D vegetation artist for Onyx Studio, I was tasked with creating these spiky brambles for Compulsion Games' "South of Midnight". I made an "alive" and "dead" variant. The living plant was to be animated and would damage the player if they came too close. For the living plant, I made two models - one in "idle" mode and one in "attack" mode - and used them for creating blend shapes. The animation was done by the wonderful artists at Compulsion Games. They provided the concept as well (if someone knows the concept artist, please let me know so I can credit them properly).
I was responsible for creating all of the models and textures needed, including sculpting the high-poly, creating the low-poly, texturing, and finally, assembling the various states of this asset. This asset was so educational since I had never worked with blend shapes before and I learned so many new techniques along the way!

I am very grateful that I got the chance to contribute to this beautiful game, and a big THANK YOU goes out to the wonderful people of Compulsion Games, Tilman Mielsch (our technical artist who made sure everything was moving properly), and Jim Feenema (our lead artist who supported and taught us).
