Final shot of the 3 spice shakers I designed and created during this course. I turned a plate of pear wood for them to create a rustic and natural base in contrast to the clean, white surface of the ceramics.

Working with plaster is a mess but so much fun!
During the sixth semester I was given the chance to study the construction of plaster casting molds.
The look I was going for: soft, creamy and almost liquid-like. Since shakers are items that are touched and gripped quite often, I wanted them to feel haptically pleasing to the user. Their surface quality was really important for my final design, so I aimed for maximum smoothness. The surface is accentuated by a silk-mat white glaze.
To give these accessoires a place to stay, I turned a rustic plate out of pear wood on the lathe.
