Bear Paw Succulent

A little short project with one of my favorite succulents.

My focus for this project was to create clean, easy-to-edit topology for organic shapes and to work with different deformers (bend and curve warp mostly) to create a workflow that is as non-destructive as possible.

It was a bit fiddly to create a fuzzy looking plant in Marmoset Toolbag 4. The final image is a mixture of two images with and without ray tracing on. I noticed that for fuzzy plants, I need to dive deeper into the topic on how to create peach fuzz and I already have the perfect plant for this in mind ;)

Overall, for about 2,5 days of work, I'm happy with my little plant so far and I learned a lot about how to use curves in Maya to deform objects.

If you are thinking: "Hey, this pot looks familiar." You are right. I took it from my cactus project and edited the textures a bit. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/klD9wy
